National Wine Day marked in Moldova

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/- This year's edition of the National Wine Day, October 3-4, is marked with the slogan "Eu deVIN sarbatoare" (I become feast). With respect to all security measures, especially in the virtual environment, the agenda of the holiday provides a review of the successes recorded in the 19 years since this event is recorded in the Republic of Moldova.
"National Wine Day has already become a beautiful tradition and a tribute to the hard work of winemakers. It is a work not only of one season, but of many years, from planting cuttings to harvesting grapes. On behalf of the government, I sincerely thank all winemakers for proudly promoting the image of the Republic of Moldova and I assure you that we will continue the measures to support this sector,” Prime Minister Ion Chicu said.
Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Perju said “this year we celebrate the National Wine Day differently, but the format of the event will allow the National Wine Day to be recorded in any corner of the world, with a good glass of wine and a word of congratulations to the winemakers of Moldova. We are with our producers and we appreciate their successes, the beautiful results that opened the way to international markets ".
Gheorghe Arpentin, director of the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV), said "anyone, wherever they are, will be able to participate in this event, which is ours, common, and we can celebrate with millions of people on the day we will say I become holiday”.
Traditionally, at the inauguration ceremony of the holiday, the best local wine producers were selected and awarded.
Moldova is among the top 20 wine-producing countries, being the 13th largest exporter in the world. The wine industry is one of the key branches of our country's economy, which provides over the years a share in GDP of about 2 percent and an income of about 9% of exports. In 2019, the sector exported goods worth over 200 million euros. Moldovan wines are imported from over 70 countries in different parts of the world.
