Moldovan PM attends National Wine Day

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/- Today, Prime Minister Ion Chicu participated in the opening of the 19th edition of the National Wine Day with the slogan - I get feast, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Chicu noted the importance of the wine industry for the development of the national economy and sent a congratulatory message to all winemakers.
"National Wine Day has already become a beautiful tradition and a tribute to the hard work of winemakers. You are true patriots because you promote the good image of the Republic of Moldova all over the world. The government supports this important branch of the agricultural sector, as wine is and remains the business card of the Republic of Moldova, " he said.
At the same time, Ion Chicu expressed the government's intention to continue to offer all support to the wine sector.
In fiscal policy for 2021, the government comes with a set of measures to support the entire agro-industrial sector, by subsidizing investments, reducing taxes and implementing the necessary measures to expand exports.
Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Perju noted that Moldova is among the top 20 wine-producing countries, being also the 13th largest exporter of wine in the world. "Despite economic impediments, the sector has exported goods worth over 200 million dollars," said Perju.
Chicu handed out awards for winemakers who stood out by producing quality wines, perpetuating the traditions and excellent quality of local wines and promoting the image of the Republic of Moldova as a wine country on the international arena. The grand prize was awarded to the winery Wines roots.
He pointed out significant investment in creating decent jobs and enterprise infrastructure, saying that much of the equipment is produced even in Moldova. The company has an annual production capacity of about 5.5 million liters of wine, being the number one producer in Moldova in terms of exports.
National Wine Day is an event that has been promoting the consumption of quality wine in Moldova for 19 years. Moldovan wine is a symbol of European identity, based on a vast culture, a valuable wine heritage and centuries of evolution, to which the wines from the region of our country have been connected since ancient times.
