Best teachers of Moldova awarded prizes at gala of laureates of Teacher of the Year national contest

Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/ - The best teachers today were awarded prizes at a festivity held at the headquarters of the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre. Attending the event were Prime Minister Ion Chicu, Education, Culture and Research Minister Igor Sarov and the laureates of the Teacher of the Year contest, the 2020 issue, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
PM Ion Chicu appreciated the contribution and self-denial of teachers in the education of the young generation. In a congratulatory message addressed to teachers, Ion Chicu said that the education, along with the medicine, must become an absolute priority of the country. The prime minister stressed that the education sector should be supplied with financial resources, which would allow the development of the education field and adapting the education to the new standards.
„On this day, we honour the teachers, who do not only convey knowledge and help educate the new generation, but also mark the definite road along the life. The education is the nicest gift a man can acquire; yet, without teachers, the education cannot fulfill its role. I congratulate all teachers of Moldova on the professional day. I wish you good health and success,’’ Ion Chicu said.
At the 2020 issue of the Teacher of the Year republican contest, the winners were nominated at the following categories: Professor of the Year category – 3 prizes; Teacher of the Year – 3 prizes and Educator of the Year – 3 prizes.
Within the contest, the teachers are awarded a money prize worth 50,000 lei for the prize I; 25,000 lei for prize II and 15,000 lei – prize III. Also, the laureates are awarded the didactic degree following to the one they have or their higher didactic degree is confirmed.
The Teacher of the Year contest is organized in order to stimulate the activity of the profession of teacher, promote the advanced experience, as well as motivate the teacher for continuous education and self-education.
