Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 247,609 citizens residing in settlements from the left bank of Dniester will be able to exercise their right to vote at the presidential elections due on 1 November. The Reintegration Policies Bureau today informed the voters and local public authorities about the mechanism of documenting eventual infringements of the right to free movement on the day of the presidential polls.
According to the Bureau, if an incident or provocation occurs, in which representatives of the breakaway structures from the left bank of Dniester are involved, it is to be ascertained by the district policeman, who will check the situation on the spot. People can call the 112 single phone number.
If the problem is solved on the spot, the Contingent of Peacekeeping Forces on behalf of Moldova is to be informed. The officer on duty will fix the infringement and will demand the moving of military from the Joint Peacekeeping Forces on the spot, in order to document it.
Data by the Reintegration Policies Bureau shows that Moldova’s delegation to the Joint Control Commission has already asked to ensure the free movement of citizens from the Transnistrian region and the Security Zone. The Moldovan delegation also called on the co-heads of the Commission, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission to contribute to avoiding the restrictions and incidents, especially on the day of elections due on 1 November 2020.
