Moldova's reintegration bureau takes note in case of policeman seized by breakaway Transnistrian structures

Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Reintegration Policies Bureau has taken note in the case of the actions of kidnapping of an officer of the Floresti Police Inspectorate by the breakaway power-wielding structures of the Transnistrian region, the Bureau has reported.

The Bureau’s representatives and Moldova’s Delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) cooperate with the law-enforcement bodies and other authorities, in order to clear up all circumstances of the case and intervene on channels available for his release.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic made representations to the Transnistrian side to ask for explanations on this case, stressing, at the same time, the inadmissibility of such actions. ‘’Such actions are inadmissible, illegal and violate the most fundamental human rights, being a constant provocation in the last period,’’ Cristina Lesnic said.

At the same time, the subject was brought in the focus of the mediators in the 5+2 format, Council of Europe’s Office in Moldova and Representation of the United Nations in Moldova and will be tackled by Moldova’s Delegation to JCC at the Commission’s meeting this week.

According to operative information, the Interior Ministry mobilized the forces available, in order to establish all circumstances and undertake all measures, to identify the place of stay and release the police employee. Addition, the Floresti prosecutor’s office opened a criminal file on this case, based on the Article 164, Kidnapping of a Person, and Article 351, paragraph 2, Usurpation of the Official Capacity, from Moldova’s Criminal Code.

Today at 9:30, the leadership of the Floresti police inspectorate was notified by the wife of a policeman with residence in the Camenca town, who informed about the fact that her husband had been kidnapped by unknown persons, with hoods on heads and clothes with the КГБ inscription.

The Bureau will cooperate with the competent authorities, in order to make needed efforts on this case.
