Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office instructs creation of group for criminal prosecution in case of kidnapped policeman

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo has instructed the withdrawal from the prosecutor’s office of the Floresti district of the file opened on 7 October on the ‘’kidnapping of a person’’ and ‘’usurpation of the official capacity’’ and submitting the file to the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS).
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Alexandr Stoianoglo instructed the creation of a complex group of criminal prosecution. Besides specialized prosecutors, the groups includes prosecutors from the Floresti prosecutor’s office, criminal prosecution officers of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) Criminal Prosecution General Department, investigation officers of the MAI National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), as well as officers of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), who are to provide an efficient inquiry on this case, in order to identify, detain and call to account the persons guilty.
An officer of the Floresti police inspectorate on 7 October morning was kidnapped from the yard of his home, placed in the Camenca town, Transnistrian region. According to his wife, the policeman was seized by several persons with hoods on their heads, with clothes having the inscription MGB, -the so-called Tiraspol security ministry, after which he was put into a vehicle and carried into an unknown direction.
Moldova’s legislation provides for up to ten years of imprisonment for these actions.
