Yesterday's wind destroyed roofs of many institutions, homes in three districts

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/- Strong wind gusts accompanied by rains on the evening of October 8 snatched hundreds of sheets of slate and metal tiles from the roofs of several institutions and homes in Criuleni, Glodeni and Soroca districts.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Interior / IGSU /, in Boșcana village, Criuleni district, strong gusts tore off the roof of the town hall and the church. The wind destroyed even the roofs of the houses in the village.

The damage was also reported in Glodeni, where the wind damaged about 60 sheets of slate on the roof of a high school, and in Cajba the wind destroyed 107 sheets of slate and metal tiles on nine houses.

Emergency commissions are on the spot to estimate the damages registered.

This morning, Prime Minister Ion Chicu had telephone conversations with the mayors of the localities to coordinate the assessment of the damages and support from the government.
