Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/- This year, 139 polling stations will be opened for the presidential elections in 36 countries, up by 39 polling stations than in 2016 elections. The data were presented today by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Țulea at a joint conference with the chairman of the Central Electoral Commission, Dorin Cimil.
Tulea said that the elections will take place in a pandemic, which involves a number of risks. "Due to the epidemiological situation and possible health restrictions imposed by the host countries, there is a risk that some polling stations will not be open. For this reason, the first solution we have proposed is to vote in the nearest polling station which is open close to the one that cannot be functional due to epidemiological developments ", he said.
He noted that so far, all locations where the 139 polling stations will be opened have been identified, and subsequently information sessions will be organized for diaspora citizens.
The CEC head said that all citizens, even those with fever will be able to exercise their right to vote on 1 November and a special space will be arranged within the sections for such people.
Eight candidates will run for the presidency on 1 November.
