Moldovan border policemen receive special equipment bought with support of USA

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - The border policemen have received special equipment and off-road vehicles bought within a pilot project, Initiative of Tightening Security of the Green Border between Moldova and Ukraine, launched in 2018 and financed by the U.S. Department of Energy.  

Attending the ceremony on the donation of the special equipment and technology were the head of the Border Police, Corneliu Groza, and the coordinator of the Nuclear Substances Detection and Deterring Programme (NSDD Programme) for Moldova, Dumitru Jitari.   

The event started with the presentation of vehicles and special equipment, such as: detectors of radiations, monocles, binoculars, tactic lanterns, vehicles for off-road patrol, vehicles for carrying employees, radio stations, tactic waistcoats.      

The head of the Border Police, Corneliu Groza, thanked the American representation for cooperation and support showed within the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) programme of the United States Department of State.   

The coordinator of the NSDD programme in Moldova, Dumitru Jitari, pointed out the importance of such strategic projects. He gave assurances as to the maintaining and continuing the good bilateral cooperation relations, in order to guarantee the proper level of security and safety at Moldova’s state border.
