Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - The government approved a pilot programme on the creation of multifunctional industrial platforms at a meeting today.
Under the cabinet’s decision, to enhance the competitiveness, productivity, employment of the industrial sector in the regions where there are no industrial platforms, the government proposes to create multifunctional industrial platforms (PIM). PIMs are scheduled to represent certain locations fully endowed from the viewpoint of the utilities; this will turn them into ‘’centres of excellence’’ for industrial development.
„This fact is important for Moldova, as on short and medium-term, it is impossible to set up a highly qualitative infrastructure, needed for the modern industry at the level of the entire country. The promotion of investments in these zones will be based not so much on fiscal stimuli, as on facilitating investors’ access and carrying out of efficient projects in a short period,’’ the document reads.
The creation of platforms will be made in more stages. The first stage provides for the identification and selection of grounds meant for the setting up of PIMs; afterwards, these grounds will be connected to public utilities through the pilot programme on the creation of multifunctional industrial platforms.
The cabinet of ministers also ruled that the Organization for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM) is nominated as unit of implementation of the pilot programme on the creation of multifunctional industrial platforms.
The financing of activities contained in the pilot programme on the creation of multifunctional industrial platforms will be carried out at the expense and within the limits of the allocations stipulated in the state budget and other sources which are not banned by the normative framework. The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry will have the task to exercise control over the fulfillment of this decision.
