Moldovan capital's residents mark city's Dedication Day

Chisinau, 14 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau residents today mark the city’s Dedication Day, on the 584th anniversary of the first documented mention of the Moldovan capital. On the same day, the old-style Orthodox Christians celebrate the Holy Protection of the Mother of God.
On this occasion, the Chisinau city hall prepared a schedule of cultural events, held in all districts of the Moldovan capital.
Today morning, representatives of the local public administration laid flowers at the monument to Ruler Stefan cel Mare. At the same time, the Holy Liturgy was officiated at the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral.
The holiday, Dedication Day of the Chisinau city, took place afterwards. The Symphony Orchestra of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, the municipal folk music orchestra led by the Advahov Brothers, Doina Choral Chapel, composer Eugen Doga and others took part in the event.
An exhibition titled, Folkloric Treasure, art exhibitions (painting, workmanship, popular costumes, hand made, etc.) were inaugurated in the square of the Birth of God Metropolitan Cathedral. Panoramic exhibitions are staged at the History Museum of the City during the day.
At 16:00, the MOLDPRES State News Agency Public Institution, in partnership with the Chisinau city hall, organizes the inauguration of a topic-related exhibition titled, We help them, so that can help us, by master photographer Mihai Vengher, which presents medical employees working in COVID-19 sections.
Music and poetry recitals are held during the day in the Stefan cel Mare public garden, as well as in other locations.
A documentary will be screened in open air on the Municipal Youth Square from the Petru Zadnipru Street 3/2. Also, ECO fairs were staged in each district of Chisinau. A literary and musical event will take place on the Mircea cel Batran Alley from Chisinau during 21:00-21:30.
All events are organized with the observance of the protection measures.
On 14 October, the dedication day is marked in more settlements of Moldova. According to the Orthodox Church, the Miracle of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin took place in the Saint Mary of Blachernae church in Constantinople during the Emperor Leo VI the Wise (886-912). The Mother of God appeared during an all-night-long vigil, surrounded by saints, praying to God for all the mankind.
