Officials in Moldovan capital risk 12 years in prison after fictitiously hiring several people

Chisinau, 16 October/MOLDPRES/- Several people with positions of responsibility within an institution belonging to the Directorate of Youth Education and Sports Center of Chisinau risk up to 12 years in prison after it was found that they were fictitiously hiring people and subsequently illegally raising their salaries.
According to the capital's police, since 2019, the employees of the institution subordinated to the capital's mayor's office have fictitiously hired several people to work in various positions, some of them being at that time abroad or in prison.
Their salary was extracted from the salary cards, and the financial means were appropriated and used in personal interest, being brought a preliminary damage worth about 210 thousand lei.
Following the searches carried out at the homes and service offices of the suspects, the salary cards of the fictitious employees, the documents that were the basis for the employment of these persons, as well as money were found.
On this fact, a criminal case has been initiated for embezzlement, and if found guilty, officials risk 7 to 12 years in prison.
