Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a working meeting with the mayors of the settlements from the north-western Glodeni district. The local public authorities (APL) set forth the principal problems in the territory and the obstacles which procrastinate their settlement, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The local authorities complained about the fact that delays were recorded in the implementation of the Good Roads for Everybody national programme. The company which won the tender was to start the works two weeks ago, but it procrastinates the works unexplainably.
The PM asked the decision-makers of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) and the State Administration of Roads (ASD) to report the schedule in detail and the company should carry out the works, focus the equipment immediately in the sectors with problems.
„What happens in Glodeni is not good. There are delays in the carrying out of roads’ repair works. I ask decision-makers of ASD to daily monitor the fulfillment of the works, based on the schedule for each settlement separately and the works for roads’ restoration must be completed till late next November. In 2020, the number of districts for a company which can carry out roads’ construction works will have to be limited,’’ Ion Chicu said.
The participants in the meeting also discussed the supply with water of more settlements of the Glodeni district. In the last years, the wells have practically run dry and the lack of drinking water is a pressing problem. In this respect, more projects were started, but which have been ceased for various reasons.
One of them is also the project on supply with water of ten settlements from the Prut river meadow. It provides for the construction of a water collection and pumping station and a water treatment station. The project’s sum amounts to about 40 million lei. Its implementation, however, is dragged because of problems in the process of tenders.
Prime Minister Chicu asked decision-makers to collect facts about the reasons which stagnates the process of implementation of the water supply projects. He stressed the vital importance of aqueducts for the citizens.
The participants in the discussion also referred to the bad weather of the last period, which hit especially the Glodeni district. The mayors whose settlements suffered in the wake of the torrential rains and the strong wind from two weeks ago thanked PM Ion Chicu for prompt attitude and immediate support provided to citizens.
