Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s delegation, at a 15 October meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, brought to the attention of the OSCE member states the degradation of the situation as to the human rights in the Transnistrian region. The Moldovan delegation highlighted the abuses committed by the Tiraspol regime in the last months, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.

The international community was informed about multiple concrete cases concerning the illegal detention of people, abusive expulsion from residence settlements, violating the right to property and free movement of citizens on the territory of the country, infringement of the right to free expression, etc.

Moldova’s delegation called on the OSCE community, in particular, the mediators and observers in the 5+2 format, to consolidate efforts, in order to ensure the protection of human rights in the Transnistrian region, under the control of the Tiraspol structures.

The international partners expressed concern about the situation in terms of human rights in Moldova’s Transnistrian region and called on Tiraspol to observe the human rights. Also, an appeal was made to the OSCE Mission in Moldova to boost efforts, in order to ensure the freedom of movement and more vigorously monitor the situation in the Security Zone. The subject will remain in the focus of the partner delegations, including the one of the European Union, at the next meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.
