Electors can ask for voting at place of stay in Moldova starting from 17 October

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) informs that, during 17-31 October inclusively, applications on voting at the place of stay can be submitted, the CEC’s press service has reported.
Under the electoral legislation, the voter who cannot come to the headquarters of the polling station on health grounds, or for other solid reasons, can ask the electoral bureau to vote by means of the mobile ballot box. The applications are made in written form starting from two weeks ahead of the voting day and till 18:00 of the day before the voting day. On the voting day, the applications can be made in written form till 15:00, if medical certificate is presented.
In the context of the crisis situation in the public health sector, on the day of elections, only the electors with symptoms of the COVID-19 infection can vote at the place of their stay without obligation to present the medical certificate till 15:00.
People who cannot independently submit the application on voting at the place of stay have right to do this through a family member or ask for the aid of the social assistant from the mayoralty for this. The applications on voting at the place of stay on behalf of persons with disabilities can be made including orally.
On the election day, the head of the electoral bureau of the polling station nominates at least two members of the bureau, who go with a mobile ballot box and the material needed for voting to the elector’s place of stay, so that he/she can vote. The voting at the place of stay can be asked only in the area of the polling station where the voter has his/her registration at the domicile/residence.
The aforementioned people vote according to the list of electors for voting at the place of stay, compiled by the electoral bureau of the polling station, based on the application submitted.
