Diminution of pandemic crisis in Moldova discussed at meeting with EU experts

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) today organized the fifth meeting of the Moldova – European Union Association Sub- Committee (SC) on Trade and Sustainable Development (TSD). The participants exchanged opinions on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economic and social situation, measures adopted to attenuate its impact.
Also, the participants in the meeting brought for discussion the importance and need of digitalizing the economy and developing the electronic commerce. In the context, a state secretary at MEI, Iuliana Dragalin, said that, to diminish the negative impact of the pandemic crisis, the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry had started the working out of a post-COVID-19 programme for the 2020-2021 period.
„Its goal resides in the necessity to identify measures of economic revitalization, improvement of the macro-economic indexes, growth of the entrepreneurial activity in Moldova, as well as facilitation of the distance interaction between the government, business community and consumers,’’ Dragalin said.
Another subject on the meeting’s agenda referred to the draft on amendment of the Labour Code, with the EU encouraging the project’s quick finishing. They said that Moldova had every support of the International Labour Organization, so that the changes meet the international norms.
In the end, the European experts appreciated the progress made in Moldova as to the bringing the national legislation in line with the European one, as well as the reforms underway in the concerned sectors. The EU’s representatives came up with a string of recommendations, in order to efficiently implement the European practices in commerce and sustainable development in all sectors.
