Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - After Prime Minister Ion Chicu had paid a visit to the central Nisporeni district and identified a string of problems dealing with aqueducts, sewerage system and gas supply, today the PM invited the mayors from this district and decision-makers from ministries and agencies to confront with these problems and possibility to finish the projects underway in the district, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
As a priority, the participants in the discussion considered the present stage of the projects on provision with water of the district’s settlements. These projects have been earlier launched with the financial support of the National Ecological Fund and the Development Agency, but were not finished because of the lack of financing. ‘’We no longer experience the 30-year-old realities, when it was only natural to go to well to take water. We will do our utmost to supply the citizens with drinking water. I am optimistic as to the capacity of attracting investments from the development partners. If we do not invest the needed money for completing the projects, then we will lose the projects underway,’’ the prime minister said.
The Nisporeni water-purifying station has a double capacity as compared to the one used at present. To turn the potential to good account, an extra investment worth 1.9 million euros is necessary, so that most residents be provided with services.
The mayor of the Balauresti village, Ionel Alexandru, reminded about a project of a water-purifying station in the settlement, from which the school and kindergarten are to benefit. ‘’It is a risk for children to use the utilities outside the school,’’ Ionel Alexandru said. The mayor of the Marinici village, Vitalie Velesco, proposed for finishing the project on water supply in the settlement, from which 180 households, as well as more social units are to benefit.
The mayor of the Bolduresti village pointed out an important project which would provide with water 13 settlements of the region – ten in the Nisporeni district and three ones in Ungheni. ‘’This project is costly, as it exceeds 51 million lei, yet needed for those 15,000 residents.’’
The state secretaries at the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM), Maxim Popov and Dorin Andros, recommended that the local authorities present the technical projects and the fulfillment acts to the National Ecological Fund, in order to be examined and the necessary financial resources identified for completing the projects.
PM Ion Chicu recommended that these and other projects underway be analyzed jointly with MADRM specialists and, as a priority, the needed works be carried out, so that they are made available to people for use. ‘’The water is a major problem for Moldova. Here, we do not talk about spending for comfort. We talk about the elementary needs for the citizens. There are more problems in the country’s rural zones, but water and sewerage is a priority. The government will provide a continuity, in order to identify and solve the citizens’ problems,’’ Ion Chicu said.
Also today, the prime minister assessed the necessities for continuing another important infrastructure project – construction of a sports complex in the Nisporeni district. In the first phase, the project provides for the construction of a modern stadium, running tracks, sanitary units, etc. The Centru Regional Development Agency earmarked 48 million lei for these works, of which a half of the sum has been turned to account.
The Nisporeni town mayor noted that this comprehensive project would be the second one in terms of size from Moldova and would host sports competitions at the international level. To finish the works underway, 25 million lei is still necessary. The National Football Confederation will also provide support for the endowment of the sports complex.
The PM said that this object was important for young people and the society and must be made available for use as soon as possible. At the same time, Ion Chicu instructed that, jointly with the Finance Ministry, needed financial means should be identified, in order to be allocated in the 2021 budget.
