Emergency Commission earmarked funds for liquidation of consequences caused by rains

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a meeting of the Commission for Emergencies to consider several urgent issues. It is about the requests of the commission for emergencies of Gagauzia and Ialoveni district on compensation of damages for liquidation of consequences following heavy rains in late September, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The commission decided to earmark 2 million 62 thousand lei to the Executive Committee of Gagauzia, where several houses and lands from different localities were severely damaged, including Comrat. Also, 2 km of gas network and over 1 km of local roads were damaged. The funds will cover the damages of the owners whose houses need to be demolished or have been partially damaged as a result of the floods. In all, 45 homes were damaged, eight of which cannot be repaired and are to be demolished. For these families, other houses will be purchased or new ones built.
Following the 29 September rains, the premier paid a visit to Comrat and collected facts about the current situation. Following the instructions, 500 tons of sludge were cleaned and discharged over two days and the gas network was fully restored. In addition, the government has allocated 1.8 million lei from the reserve fund for cleaning Ialpug riverbed and arranging a protective dam in Comrat.
At the same time, the Commission for Emergencies decided today to earmark a financial aid worth 600 thousand lei from the intervention fund for the repair of the internal electrical networks of Olymp high school from Costești village, Ialoveni district. As a result of the rains, the roof, classrooms and all electrical networks were damaged. "Over 500 children are studying here, we must do everything possible to restore this objective," Chicu said.
Also, the CSE members approved the granting of aid as construction materials necessary to liquidate the consequences due to the 13 October heavy rains in Căinarii Vechi village, Soroca district. The construction materials will be meant for rehabilitation of the roof of the town hall building, kindergarten and five houses in the locality.
