Moldovan cabinet sets up working group for EU-financed programmes

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a today’s meeting, approved a decision on the setting up of a national working group for coordinating the implementation of cross-border and transnational cooperation programmes financed by the European Union.
The group will be made up of representatives of the Finance Ministry, State Chancellery, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry, Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, regional development agencies, public institution, Council of audit’s public supervision, public institution, Office of Management of Foreign Assistance Programmes, as well as of representatives delegated as observers by the Court of Accounts and National Anticorruption Centre.
The concerned authorities will nominate, in a 15-day period, the members of the national group and their deputies and will inform the Finance Ministry about the persons nominated. The nomination of representatives in the national working group will be made through official approach by the Finance Ministry.
The national working group will contribute to ensuring the implementation of the cross-border and transnational cooperation programmes as regards the management, audit, control, recovery of European Union’s funds got/used with irregularities, by fraud and corruption, as well as prevention and combating of these phenomena; will participate in considering the content of the documents of scheduling within the cross-border and transnational cooperation programmes and will submit proposals to them.
The group will also consider recommendations and requests by the management structures of the cross-border and transnational cooperation programmes, in order to ensure their implementation; will submit proposals on adjusting the national normative and institutional framework to the requirements of the cross-border and transnational cooperation programmes and their implementation in Moldova; will fulfill also other duties, according to the needs of coordination of the cross-border and transnational cooperation programmes.
According to the cabinet, the Finance Ministry, as National Management Authority, will ensure the coordination of the activity of the national working group and the public institution, Office of Management of Foreign Assistance Programmes, will carry out its secretariat works.
