Regulation on evaluation of public libraries to enter into force on 23 October

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/- The 23 October Official Journal will publish the Regulation on assessment of public libraries.

The document sets out the minimum criteria applied to the evaluation of public libraries, the way in which the evaluation procedure of public libraries is organized and carried out, as well as the categories assigned to libraries following the evaluation.

"The purpose of the Regulation is to establish a unitary regulatory framework for the evaluation procedure of public libraries, to identify a set of mandatory minimum requirements for the organization and operation of public libraries and to guide and optimize their activity, as well as to foster motivation of public library staff to increase the library performance”, the government decision reads.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research will initiate the evaluation of libraries within one month of the entry into force of the decision and will ensure the evaluation of public libraries within two years of the initiation of the process.

At the same time, the public libraries in the national library system will maintain their evaluation category held on the date of entry into force of this decision until the first evaluation carried out in accordance with the nominated Regulation.

The decision enters into force tomorrow upon publication in the Official Journal.
