Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 240 scanners will be used at the presidential elections due on 1 November 2020, in order to facilitate the procedure of voters’ registration in the ALEGERI (ELECTIONS) State Automated Information System.
The equipment was donated to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The scanners can identify the voters in the electoral lists based on the scanned identity card. Unlike the manual introduction of data, the scanning process proved the exclusion of human errors, as well as shortened the time and the queues of voters by 72 per cent.
A number of 120 scanners will be meant for the polling stations from abroad and are adapted to the model of the identity act of the passport type and identity card. Another 120 ones will be placed in the most agglomerated polling stations from Moldova.
The other 80 scanners, purchased in 2019, are meant for the polling stations opened for the voters who live on the left bank of Dniester and who will vote based on the identity card.
