Moldovan premier assesses infrastructure projects in north district village

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu, at a today working visit to north Moldova, assessed the result of the implementation of more projects on roads’ infrastructure, water supply, as well as the activity of developing enterprises from the Gribova village, Drochia district, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

„Our vision is to spend public money in infrastructure. Without roads’ repair, supply with drinking water and other priority needs, we have no chance to maintain the people in rural zones and develop these regions. I am happy to see progress here, including the water supply,’’ Ion Chicu said, after visiting the water purifying station from the Gribova village.  

The station has been recently put into operation and has a connecting capacity of 250 households. On the immediately next period, the school, medical point the kindergarten and 50 families will be connected. The costs worth nine million lei were financed by the National Ecological Fund (FEN), which included also the partial construction of aqueduct networks in the settlement. ‘’The station is functional, but needs to be extended and we will come up with the concerned financial contribution from FEN. Also, I noted the local authorities’ need of support in arranging the sewerage infrastructure,’’ Chicu added.   

Another object visited by the PM is the mill from the settlement, which has been working for the third year in a row. Due to private investments, worth 1.4 million lei, the economic agent set modern equipment of processing, including with the help of a grant financed by the National Regional Development Fund (FNDR) and the European Neighbourhood Programme. The enterprises provide jobs to at least 18 local residents. The prime minister also interested in the investor’s development plans and what difficulties he is facing.  

Also, Ion Chicu evaluated the carrying out of the works of roads’ rehabilitation in the settlement. Presently, several segments are under repair on a total length of 2.8 km of road, in white variant. The works’ cost is 1.1 million lei. ‘’The works are carried out according to the schedule; roadmen assure us that, during one week, they will finish the repair works,’’ PM Chicu noted.   

Subsequently, the prime minister had a discussion with the district’s leadership, local councilors of the Gribova village, as well as entrepreneurs, physicians and teachers from the settlement. The PM collected facts about the situation and the needs in the region and stressed the importance of endowing the medical point with a biochemical apparatus, the necessity to revise the legislation on the personnel  establishment in schools, as well as providing support to the asylum for elderly people from the region. Also, the participants exchanged opinions on the draft of the budgetary and fiscal policy for the next year, as well as the precarious situation in the agriculture and the government’s visions to remedy the risks.
