Former employees of Moldovan Consulate in Bucharest prosecuted for abuse of office

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/- Several former employees of the Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest are under criminal investigation for abuse of office, being suspected of having collected taxes from citizens that they would not have entered in the accounting records of the mission.

According to the National Anticorruption Center / CNA /, they received the payments for the certificates issued by the Consulate, which were to be presented for the change of Moldovan driving licenses into Romanian.

CNA officers began the investigation in September 2020, after which a criminal investigation was initiated. Yesterday, two officers went to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest where they conducted hearings and collected accounting records.
