Rapid e-commerce review presented in Chisinau

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/- A Rapid e-commerce review in Moldova worked out by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was presented today at a meeting of the working group for digitization of economy.
According to experts, most basic elements needed for an e-commerce ecosystem are functional in Moldova. At the same time, while most infrastructure elements are functional, there are some serious elements of blockage on the administrative and tariffs, which must be radically addressed to accelerate e-commerce in Moldova.
Experts have proposed measures to strengthen governance at the national level, develop the local e-commerce market, overcome legislative barriers, improve the fiscal and fintech environment, create opportunities for the development of logistics and branding services.
Minister of Economy and Infrastructure said that the pandemic crisis and technological evolution have created serious prerequisites to rethink the tools to boost economic growth in our country. Sergiu Railean referred to the support programs launched for SMEs to digitize business processes, use of online commerce tools, as well as legislative interventions promoted by MEI.
According to the official, removing the artificial barriers that prevent companies from developing in the new reality, creating the necessary preconditions for the digital transformation of the economy has become the main goal of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure in the last few months.
