Moldovan government sets up national commission for climate changes

Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved the nominal composition of the national commission for climate changes.
The national commission for climate changes is created as collegial body in the field of attenuating and adaptation to the climate changes. The commission’s goal is to coordinate nationally the activities aimed at implementing the provisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as other international treaties in the field, Moldova is party to.
The commission provides the institutional framework for the carrying out of the process of adaptation to the climate changes, elaboration, assessment and approval of projects on implementation of adequate actions of attenuation at the national level.
Under the regulation, the national commission is made up of 17 members: ten representatives of central and local public administration authorities and seven representatives of education and scientific institutions, non-governmental organizations and private sector.
The commission will be led by the agriculture, regional development and environment minister and the structure’s secretariat will be ensured by the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry and the Public Institution, Unit of implementation of projects in environment sector.
