Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - The video registration system will work in the polling stations at the presidential elections due on 1 November 2020.
Under a decision by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the video system has no connection to the Internet and will be functional and active only on the voting day, in order to monitor the electoral operations in the lack of the voters. The video registration starts with the sealing of the ballot boxes, verification of the existence of electoral lists, ballot papers, stamps and will be ceased at the opening of the polling station, i.e. at 7:00. Afterwards, the video registration will be restarted at the moment of closing of the polling station following the finishing of the procedure of counting and tabulation of the votes by the members of the electoral bureau of the polling station.
If the runoff is held, the video registration will be carried out according to the same model.
CEC reiterates that the setting of the video cameras in the polling stations will not compromise the secret of vote. The pictures will not be broadcast online, but stocked on a separate device, exclusively in case of electoral litigations; they could be used as evidence for their consideration and settlement.
