Socio-economic recovery plan after COVID-19 worked out by UN-backed authorities

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/- UN Moldova and Moldovan government have worked out an updated plan for response and socio-economic recovery COVID-19.
The document aims at reducing the country's vulnerability to the pandemic, allowing a transparent and efficient recovery process, by respecting human rights and gender mainstreaming.
"In the fight against the pandemic, one thing has become clear: global challenges require strong commitment, coordinated efforts and actions at all levels and from all stakeholders, solidarity and sustainable partnerships," Prime Minister Ion Chicu said.
"The socio-economic response and recovery plan focuses on supporting the government to address the health emergency, the social and economic impact of the pandemic and to contribute to the principle of leaving no one behind," UN Resident Coordinator Moldova Simon Springett said.
The total budget of the plan is 106 million dollars, of which 12 million dollars have already been identified with the support of 18 donors. The plan comprises 99 projects and actions through over 40 partnerships.
So far, over 74,000 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Moldova, and 1,700 citizens have died as a result of complications caused by it.
