Over 300 bank card thefts reported by early 2020

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/- By early 2020 the police started 300 criminal cases on bank card theft with a damage of about 3 million lei. People suspected of the crime risk up to 15 years in prison.

According to the police, recently there has been an increase in fraud with bank cards, customers of several banks in Moldova. In this context, the IT Crimes Investigation Department of the National Investigation Inspectorate of IGP and the Commercial Banks of Moldova repeatedly come with a call to citizens to be vigilant and respect security rules, not to disclose bank details over the phone.

To check if you are really called by the bank's employees, call independently the phone numbers on the banks' websites, or those on the bank cards for verification. If you suspect fraud or suspicious activity, immediately contact Customer Service at the number on the back of the card valid 24 hours a day.
