Independent candidate votes for strong Moldova

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/- Independent candidate Igor Dodon exercised his right to vote. He said he opted for "a strong Moldova and to preserve political stability."
Dodon came to the polls with his wife. "I voted for a strong Moldova, economic development, preserving political stability, balance in the relationship with our external partners. I firmly believe that Moldovans should stay away from chaos. I voted for good relations between all ethnicities in Moldova. We do not need imbalance," he said.
He urged citizens to come to vote.
Today, over 2.8 million Moldovan citizens entitled to vote are expected to run in the presidential elections. Voting centers are open from 07:00 to 21:00.
Eight candidates entered the presidential race: Renato Usatii - the candidate of the Political Party Our Party; the candidate of the DA Platform Party - Andrei Năstase; the candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party - Tudor Deliu; independent candidate Igor Dodon; the candidate of the Shor Party - Violeta Ivanov; the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party - Maia Sandu; the candidate of the National Unity Party - Octavian Țîcu; the candidate of the UNIREA Electoral Bloc - Dorin Chirtoacă.
To validate the elections, at least one third of the number of voters registered in the electoral lists must be present at the polls. By 11:00, over 315,000 voters, or about 12 percent, had turned out at the polls.
