Voter turnout about 43 per cent in Moldova till 20:00

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 1,196,029 electors or about 43 per cent came to vote till 20:00 and the ballot was declared valid.
According to data by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), almost 54 per cent of the people who have already voted are women and 46 per cent - men. Most of the citizens who came to vote had ages between 56 and 70 years -33 per cent, between 41 and 55 years – 25 per cent, 26-40 years – 24 per cent, young people aged between 18 and 25 years – 8 per cent and people older than 71 years – 10 per cent.
As many as 130,366 citizens participated in the voting abroad till this hour. More heads of polling stations from outside Moldova informed that they would ask for extending the time for voting.
Today, more than 2.8 million citizens of Moldova with right to vote are expected to participate in the presidential elections. The polling stations are opened during 7:00-21:00. Eight candidates are registered in the race for the office of Moldova’s president: Renato Usatii on behalf of the Our Party Political Party; Andrei Nastase on behalf of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party; Tudor Deliu from the Liberal Democratic Party; independent candidate Igor Dodon; Violeta Ivanov on behalf of the Shor Political Party; Maia Sandu from the Action and Solidarity Party; Octavian Ticu on behalf of the National Unity Party and the candidate from the UNIREA (UNIION) Electoral Bloc, Dorin Chirtoaca.
