Moldovan education ministry says 206 pupils infected with COVID-19, 3,293 in self-isolation

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - There were 206 pupils positively tested with COVID-19 and 3,293 were placed in self-isolation on 2 November. A number of 299 teachers were confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and 188 are in self-isolation, the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC) has reported.
According to MECC, 64 persons out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected with the new-type coronavirus and another 44 ones are in self-isolation. Ten education institutions work in online regime because of quarantine, just as in the case of 138 classes.
„As for the vocational education, 26 pupils, 13 teachers and auxiliary staff members were positively tested with the Sars-Cov-2 virus on the period 26-30 October. Also, 12 groups of pupils are in self-isolation. In the higher education sector, 17 students were positively tested with Covid-19 and 52 are in self-isolation on the period 26-30 October. Eleven teachers were confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and nine ones are in self-isolation. Fifteen people out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected too,’’ MECC said.
A number of 1,301 education institutions resumed working, at the founder’s decision, out of the total number of 1,398 early education institutions. Presently, seven institutions and 30 groups of children are in quarantine. There are six children positively confirmed with the COVID-19 virus and another 872 ones are in self-isolation. Eighty four teachers were confirmed positive with the new-type coronavirus and 90 ones are in self-isolation. Thirty seven people were infected out of the non-didactic and auxiliary personnel and another 103 are in self-isolation, MECC said.
The education process was resumed in the schools and lyceums from Moldova on 2 November, after the autumn vacation had ended. The Education, Culture and Research Ministry reiterates the urge to the managers of education institutions, teachers and pupils to observe all protection measures against the COVID-19 virus.
