US Embassy welcomes conclusions of ODIHR observers on presidential election

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/- The Embassy of the United States of America welcomes the assessment made by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (ODIHR) that the first round of presidential election in Moldova was professionally organized and managed transparently despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement issued by the embassy reads that the USA "encourages the Moldovan authorities to solve the electoral process problems identified by the ODIHR in order to ensure free and fair runoff."

Also today, the EU issued a statement saying that Moldovan voters demonstrated their commitment to democracy on 1 November despite the difficult context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
