Moldovan premier regrets last government reshufflings

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - ‘’I regret the last reshufflings made in the government, but we could not wait. The cabinet is not a structure where the head can stay with his/her bag packed, with the idea that he/she will leave one day.’’ Prime Minister Ion Chicu today made statements to this effect at a news conference occasioned by one year since the swearing in office of the cabinet he leads.    

„We are not in June, with the forthcoming vacation, but we are in the most complicated period of the year, when we approve the fiscal policy, budget, etc. and the attitude ‘’I leave, but I don’t know when’’ is not possible,’’ Chicu noted.   

According to the PM, these reshufflings represented the result of the ‘’triggering factor, which consisted in the withdrawal of the ministers delegated by the party.’’ ‘’These team changes were not good for us as governmental structure, as even the colleagues which were till last March need one-two weeks to get acquainted to the process. It is about the assuming of decisions on the budget, other elements. One cannot leave these things and responsibilities on the colleagues who know that they anyway leave. I just had to resort to this move,’’ the prime minister said.      

At the same time, the PM thanked the recalled ministers, noting that they had done a good job.

On 9 November, the ministers delegated by the Democratic Party (PDM) to the government were recalled. Prime Minister Ion Chicu made statements to this effect at the end of a meeting with the country’s top leadership. The decision was taken, after an 8 November statement by PDM leader Pavel Filip, who said that, after the runoff election, he would withdraw the ministers empowered by the Democrats in last March, after the PDM-Party of Socialists coalition had been established. On the same day, new leaders of four ministers and the deputy prime minister for reintegration were appointed instead of them.
