Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - The suitcases with the electoral supplies and the ballot papers have safely reached those 139 polling stations due to be opened abroad. For the runoff election, some locations of the polling stations were changed and more money was earmarked for organization. Also, decision-makers printed by 115,000 ballot papers more. The leadership of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) and the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) made statements to this effect today.
MAEIE informed that decision-makers had ruled to change the location of some polling stations for the runoff election, in order ease the flow of voters and for the meeting of the epidemic rigours from foreign states. Thus, addresses were modified for the polling stations from the cities of Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Parma, Verona, Bologna, London, Tel Aviv and Nice.
According to the quoted source, also to avoid agglomerations, the number of voting booths, stamps, computers and scanners was increased for the next Sunday ballot. Most polling stations set up outside Moldova will have a working schedule starting from 7:00 till 21:00, excepting two polling stations from Strasbourg and Baku.
MAEIE also said that it had prepared an informative material with the situation for each country, which will be placed on the webpages and on the Facebook pages of the diplomatic missions.
CEC head Dorin Cimil said that the citizens from abroad would not be able to resort to mobile ballot box this time either. He urged the citizens to consult all official information, in order to be able to participate in the voting, noting that by 115,000 ballot papers more had been printed for the runoff election.
The presidential elections’ runoff will take place in Moldova on 15 November. The candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party, Maia Sandu, and independent candidate Igor Dodon compete for the office of Moldovan president.
