Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu, along with his wife, have exercised their right to vote early in the morning today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

„Each electoral campaign and, respectively, the day of election, are of historical importance. The today’s ballot will show to the world what the state Republic of Moldova means and will prove whether we, the Moldovans, are able to organize fair, free and democratic elections. There have been much tension and less pleasant actions on behalf of politicians in this campaign; yet, I hope that today we put an end to everything and starting from tomorrow, we will have a president elected by the people and we will have possibility to continue the activities meant to change things for the better in the country. We should ensure a decent living to the elderly people, be able to pay the pensions and salaries, give young people possibility to work here, in the country. We should be capable to bring our citizens from abroad, who are actually the greatest value of the country and offer them opportunities to work at home,’’ PM Ion Chicu told journalists.

Ion Chicu voiced hope that Moldova would overcome well any provocation and would cope with all difficulties. The prime minister reiterated the importance of the vote given by each citizen individually, in order to decide Moldova’s fate for the next four years. ‘’Certainly, the entire world, as well as Moldova go through a quite difficult period. I hope that the today’s ballot will give the country possibility to go through these crises and cope with the things just as we have done this so far, in general. I want very much that the wisdom triumph, the kindness gets back to  its place; the Moldovans should finish this process just as we everybody want this and as of tomorrow, peace should be; all politicians should return to the service for the people, not in their personal interest,’’ the prime minister said.

The runoff presidential elections are held in Moldova today. The polling stations are opened on the period of 7:00-21:00.
