Moldovan electoral body says 84 per cent of official reports processed

Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ - The preliminary results of the runoff of the presidential elections from Moldova show that Maia Sandu is ahead by 583, 237 votes (51.68 per cent) of Igor Dodon, who picked up 546,627 votes (48.32 per cent).
According to data by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), in the runoff election, a turnout of 52.62 per cent of the people registered in the electoral lists both in Moldova and abroad was recorded, and it is about 1,642,982 votes cast.
A CEC member, Vladimir Sarban, has said that three polling stations from abroad, from Budapest, Tel Aviv and Kassel, prolonged the schedule of work, in order to give all electors possibility to vote.
He also said that, for reasons that the ballot papers finished, two polling stations from London, one from Frankfurt, one polling station from France and one of Berlin closed before 21:00.
Vladimir Sarban said that runoff election had taken place without major incidents and in transparent conditions.
