Maia Sandu wins presidential elections in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party, (PAS), Maia Sandu, has won the runoff of the presidential polls.
Thus, after the processing of 99.86 per cent of the reports, Maia Sandu picked up 57.63 per cent of the votes and her counter-candidate Igor Dodon – 42.37 per cent.
As many as 1,387,392 electors came to vote, or 48.45 per cent.
In a message on social networks, Prime Minister Ion Chicu congratulated Maia Sandu, as well as the citizens ‘’on the successful passing of this exam.’’
„The Republic of Moldova elected its president yesterday. I want to offer congratulations to the entire people for the successful passing of this exam of the democracy and statehood! I hope very much that the politicians will quickly get out of the trenches of struggle for power and will start, just as of today, working for consolidating the people and settlement of the Moldovans’ real problems. I want to thank all our citizens for the active participation in the ballot. We have everybody given an example of mobilization for Moldova! I thank the Central Electoral Commission and all state employees who ensured the good holding of the polls. I offer congratulations to President-elect Mrs. Maia Sandu, wishing her success and power to work in the interest of our people and country.
