Hospitals from Moldova to be subjected to verifications on observance of anti-fire protection measures

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/ - All public medical and sanitary institutions from Moldova are to be additionally self-assessed as to the observance of the anti-fire protection measures. The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) made statements to this effect, in the context of a tragedy which occurred at the Anaesthesis and Intensive Therapy Section of the Piatra Neamt (Romania) County Hospital.
According to MSMPS, trainings will be held on the key elements in the prevention of fires and informing patients and medical employees about measures of evacuating in emergency situations.
At the moment, 3,163 patients confirmed with the COVID-19 infection are put in medical institutions. MSMPS reiterates its call to the residents to observe all protection measures and immediately appeal to the family physician or call the 112 Service at the first symptoms of disease and not resort to self-treatment.
Ten patients died in the wake of a fire which broke out at the Intensive Therapy Section of the Piatra Neamt County Hospital. Another seven persons, including one physician, who tried to rescue the sick people, are in serious condition.
