Moldova, Romania to sign agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/- The parliament's foreign policy and European integration committee approved in today's meeting the consultative opinion for initiating negotiations and approving the signing of the Agreement between the Moldovan and Romanian governments on mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates and scientific titles.
The draft agreement sets out the types of study documents that will be mutually recognized. It includes regulations for the mutual recognition of study documents obtained prior to the adoption of the Bologna Process. At the same time, the study documents obtained in general education in the Republic of Moldova with a duration of 10 or 11 years will be recognized.
Currently, the normative basis for conducting academic and professional recognition procedures is the Agreement between the Moldovan and Romanian governments on mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates and scientific titles awarded by accredited educational institutions in Moldova and Romania, signed in 1998 and amended in 2010.
