Sanctions for violating graves to be toughened in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - The sanctions for the violation of graves will be enhanced. The parliament’s juridical commissions for rules and immunities approved a draft on amendment of the Criminal Code and Civil Code.

The draft law sees the toughening of sanctions for actions of religious intolerance. Under the draft, the violation of graves will be sanctioned with fines worth up to 47,500 lei or non-remunerated labour for the benefit of the community from 180 hours to 240 hours or up to two years of imprisonment.

At the same time, the Civil Code will regulate the action of violating graves as contravention. According to the draft, the civil sanction will be up to 1,800 lei.

The draft law is to be discussed at the parliament’s plenary meeting.
