Moldovan government approves way of calculating survivor pension

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved amendments to the government decision on the way of calculating the length of pensionable service, establishing and payment of pensions and allowances to military, persons of the command staff and troops of the interior affairs bodies, employees of the National Anticorruption Centre and civil servants with special status from the system of penitentiaries’ administration.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the draft’s goal is to regulate the way of calculating the survivor pension.
Thus, the draft establishes the pension for the families of servicemen, civil servants with special status, who died in the wake of an accident while fulfilling one’s job duties, worth 50 per cent of the average monthly income of the survivor for each family member unable to work.
The same quantum of pension will be provided to the families of the aforementioned, who died in an accident non-connected with the fulfilling of one’s job duties or in the wake of a disease contracted while fulfilling the job duties.
In the case of losing the survivor for the families of pensioners among the military and civil servants with special status, the pension will be calculated at the size of 50 per cent of the quantum of pension paid to the dead pensioner.
In the context, the pensions established till 1 January 2020 will be reexamined, and if the size of the pension after recalculation is lower than the quantum of the pension paid, the concerned beneficiaries will receive the pension till reexamination.
The amendments will enter into force starting from 1 January 2021.
