Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s delegation, at a today’s meeting, maintained the attention of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) to subjects related to the illegal posts and abuses against citizens committed by armed representatives of the so-called mgb (state security ministry) from the left bank of Dniester, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The Moldovan delegation reasoned its position on the need to take firm decisions on the illegal actions set forth, which infringe the fundamental human right to freedom and freedom of movement, as well as triggers the malfunction of the peacekeeping mechanisms in the Transnistrian region of Moldova.
In last mid-March, under the pretext of combating the COVID-19 pandemic, Tiraspol restricted the movement of citizens in the Security Zone through the abusive setting of ‘’border guards’’ control posts. Although they described them as ‘’sanitary posts,’’ and withdrew some of them, the strengthening of their infrastructure is recorded, with the increase in the number of staff, setting of carriages, supply with electric energy.
In October this year, in the Camenca district, mgb armed representatives abusively entered the zone of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, kidnapped several citizens, made illegal ‘’searches’’ and intimidated their families and the Transnistrian delegation continues to categorically refuse to present pertinent information within the Commission.
At the same time, they try by various means to move the emphasis to other irrelevant subjects or even to modify the format of discussion.
To de-block the works of the Commission, Moldova’s delegation proved flexibility and accepted to include the subject proposed by Tiraspol representatives on the meeting’s agenda, besides the issue of illegal posts and kidnapped citizens. In the lack of a consensus, the agenda was not approved and the meeting was postponed for 26 November.
Additionally, according to the acts of the peacekeeping mission, Moldova’s delegation informed in written form the JCC participants about the way public order was ensured in the settlements from the Security Zone on 15 November 2020.
