Segment of Chisinau's belt road trafficable

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - A 5.5-km-long segment of the M2 belt road of Chisinau is trafficable. Two out of the four lanes provided for the belt road have been fully restored, the State Administration of Roads (ASD) has reported.
According to the institution, the works started in late September 2019 and are carried out in zigzag system on the right and left sides of the roadway, so that the participants in the traffic move on the repaired side of the road.
“The rehabilitation of the belt road will reduce the formation of traffic jams, ensuring the comfort of the participants in the traffic, will release the city from the high-tonnage vehicles, will diminish the air pollution in the city,’’ ASD said.
Presently, works of drainage, of putting the basic layers, constructing embankments, reconstructing the road system, applying the road marking and signs are carried out.
"The restoration of the M2 belt road is of strategic importance for Moldova. We appreciate the performances of the local companies which can assume things at high level. We will monitor the carrying out of the works, so that they finish qualitatively and in time. We made efforts, so that the traffic is accessible on this segment,’’ the ASD, acting director, Veaceslav Potop, who paid a visit to the territory, said.
The segment is placed ten km west of Chisinau and the works will be completed in late September, 2021.
The European Investments Bank provided a support worth 9.9 million euros to Moldova’s government for the implementation of this project.
At the same time, the State Administration of Roads apologizes for the inconveniences and urges drivers to comply with the signs of the concerned routes, set on this road segment on the period of the works’ carrying out.
