South Moldova district's residents mark 110th anniversary of foundation of administrative, territorial unit

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today participated in a ceremony on anniversary of the southern Taraclia district. The residents of this district today mark the 110th anniversary of the foundation of the Taraclia administrative and territorial district, 80th anniversary of the region’s foundation and the 40th anniversary of its reorganization, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
On this occasion, the inauguration of a monument constructed in the memory of Ivan Berov – the former mayor who stayed at the basis of the creation of Taraclia district, took place in the centre of the Taraclia town. ‘’We pay homage to the Bessarabian Bulgarian, who presently remains a remarkable figure for the local public administration and the residents of the Taraclia district. This thing tells us about the dignity of the Bulgarian nation, which is able to piously preserve and venerate the values, victories and achievements of their ancestors,’’ Ion Chicu said.
The official ceremony continued with a meeting of the district’s leadership, MPs, representatives of the diplomatic corps, among whom Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Moldova, as well as residents. Ion Chicu congratulated the people from the region on the holiday, noting that the Taraclia district was recognized as a common centre of all ethnic Bulgarians from Moldova.
The prime minister specified that, during a recent discussion with his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov, the officials had tackled the subject on the work and development of the Grigore Tamblac State University from Taraclia. The Bulgarian side provided its support for the joint development of this institution. The PM thanked the Bulgarian government for the support provided to Moldova and voiced hope for the continuation of the partnership.
The PM named the cabinet’s priorities for the development of the economy nationally and regionally, which will prompt increase in the social assistance for all citizens. Therefore, the government is focused on the implementation of infrastructure projects, which continued even in this difficult year.
„We are obliged to continue, also in the next years, the projects on roads’ reconstruction, water and sewerage supply, backing the sector of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as development of multifunctional industrial platforms. All these are not promises, but real projects which we initiated. Their common goal is to create decent conditions for living and economic activity in regions, as well as create attractive conditions for young people’s employment,’’ the prime minister said. He noted that financial means were provided for in the budget for 2021 for continuing infrastructure projects in Moldova.
Also, next year, the government will undertake more measures aimed at creating jobs. Thus, entrepreneurs due to provide jobs to people returned from abroad will receive fiscal facilities at the payment of taxes for salaries of these employees for a period of 12 months. ‘’The migration of our citizens abroad is a big problem and we must together think about how to keep our young people at home, in Moldova,’’ Ion Chicu said.
The head of the Taraclia district, Ivan Paslari, appreciated the cooperation with the central public authorities. He said that tens of infrastructure projects had been implemented with the support of the government and foreign partners. Also, the section of infectious diseases of the district hospital was repaired this year, with the financial contribution provided through Bulgaria’s Embassy.
At the event, the PM visited a fine arts exhibition at the headquarters of the Community Centre and stands arranged in the Bulgarian national style. Over 42,000 residents live in the Taraclia district, of whom more than 60 per cent are ethnic Bulgarians.
