Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ - The MPay governmental service of electronic payments will be developed in a new concept. The latter was presented at a 24 November public meeting with the participation of Economics and Infrastructure Minister Anatol Usatii, representatives of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), Economic Council under the Prime Minister, Electronic Governance Agency and the business community.

According to Anatol Usatii, the concept of development of the MPay Service comes from the roadmap of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) for boosting the process of digitalization of the national economy and development of the electronic commerce, which is implemented with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the government of Sweden, on the platform of the Tekwill project.

„We can essentially contribute to ensuring the sustainability of the national economy on the period of the pandemic crisis, as well as to the economic growth in the subsequent stages, to diminishing the fiscal evasion, combating corruption and, the most important thing, to facilitating the electronic commerce through the qualitative enhancement of the online payments infrastructure,’’ the official said.

The concrete measures due to be carried out for the multidimensional and multifunctional modernization of the MPay system refers to the technical integration in the MPay System of the multitude of providers of services of utilities and various commercial services.

„Presently, in the context of the pandemic crisis, to sustainably support local producers of goods and services, we need to explore new opportunities of developing business and the online trade is a sector which we should pay increased attention. The MPay Governmental Service of Electronic Payments is a success project and we regard the extension of its functionalities as a solution for local producers of goods and services, who can access clients through digital instruments,’’ Usatii said.

The MPay system will further be managed by the Electronic Governance Agency as possessor and holder of the MPay Service. Also, the project will essentially contribute to the achievement of one of the strategic goals of BNM as to enhancing the level of use of non-cash payments, through promoting the efficiency, safety, accessibility and innovator character of the payments.
