Number of houses made available for living decrease in Moldova in 2020

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ - The number of houses made available for living decreased in January-September 2020 against the same period of 2019.
The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) informs that, in January-September this year, 5,008 dwellings (apartments and private houses) were made available for living, down by 1,585 dwellings (by 24 per cent less) against the first nine months of 2019.
The overall area of the dwellings made available for living decreased too. In January-September 2020, this area was 397,000 square metres, by 20.6 per cent less against the same period of 2019.
At the same time, statisticians found out that more houses had been made available for living against the last year in the rural environment: 691 dwellings or by 39 dwellings more against January-September 2019. As many as 4,317 dwellings were made available for living in the urban environment, by 1,624 ones less (or by 27.3 per cent) against September-September 2019.
Regionally, the number of dwellings made available for living dropped in January-September 2020 against the same period of the year before in the following development regions: Chisinau municipality - by 1,612 dwellings (or by 28.4 per cent), Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia – by 25 dwellings (29.4 per cent), Centru region – by 19 dwellings (4.2 per cent), south region – by 17 dwellings (12.3 per cent). At the same time, by 88 dwellings more (35.6 per cent) were made available for living in the North region against January-September 2019.
