Moldovan Constitutional Court suspends action of Law 218 from 3 December 2020

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Constitutional Court (CCM) today informed that it had suspended the action of the Law No 218 from 3 December 2020.   

The decision reads that, through the aforementioned law, the parliament excluded from the competence of Moldova’s president the possibility to coordinate the work of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) and to appoint the SIS leadership and establishes that the work of the Service is subjected to parliamentary control.  

The Constitutional Court’s decision was pronounced within the examination of the notification No 195a/2020, submitted to the Constitutional Court by MP Sergiu Litvinenco. The date of the consideration of this notification is to be communicated.
