Moldovan interior minister presents report on ministry's work

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - Interior Minister Pavel Voicu presented the report on the ministry’s work today.
At a news conference, Voicu said that the report had been prepared, in order to be unveiled in the parliament’s plenum today; yet, the meeting, during which the motion against the work of the Interior Ministry was to be considered, did not take place over the lack of quorum.
„We prepared along with the state secretaries and we even wanted to present, from the first source, the results achieved by all subdivisions of the institution,’’ Voicu said.
Pavel Voicu specified that, in the last year, the crime situation had improved, with 16.8 per cent less offences recorded against 2019. The crime rate diminished by 12 per cent.
The interior minister also said that, as far as the kidnapping of Moldovan citizens by the breakaway forces is concerned, such cases had taken place in the years before too; yet, the police cannot undertake investigation measures on the area uncontrolled by the state’s institutions.
The simple motion against the Interior Ministry, filed by the lawmakers of the Dignity and Truth Platform and Action and Solidarity Party, failed for lack of quorum today.
