Study on serological supervision as to COVID-19 launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - A study on serological supervision as to COVID-19 and the B and C viral hepatites has been launched in Moldova. The investigation is aimed at established the level of sero-prevalence of the COVID-19 antibodies and viral hepatites among the residents, with the assessment of the level of collective immunity to COVID-19.
According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, 6,000 people selected from lists of persons in the records of family physician will participate in the study. All persons will sign an agreement on participation and venous blood will be collected from them, which will allow getting more accurate data. Thirty two administrative territories with 79 medical and sanitary institutions were selected in all.
The study’s findings will establish the real level of spread of the infection with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) among Moldova’s residents and the B and C viral hepatitis.
The carrying out of the study on serological supervision will be coordinated by a team of the National Public Health Agency and the methodological and material support for this investigation will be provided by the World Health Organization and the Robert Koch Institute from Germany.
