Moldovan government to gradually increase transport compensation for disabled people

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, approved the amendment of the Regulation on the way the compensation for transport services is established and paid. The draft sees gradual increase in the compensation for the transport services and was worked out in the context of enhancing the measures of social protection of persons with disabilities, in accordance with the provisions of the government’s action plan for 2020-2023.

Under the decision, for the people with pronounced disabilities, the size of compensation for one quarter in districts will be: 69 lei as of 1 January 2021; 124.5 lei starting from 1 January 2022 and 180 lei beginning with 1 January 2023.

As for the people with pronounced disabilities, the size of compensation for one quarter in the Balti city will be: 135 lei starting from 1 January 2020;157.5 lei beginning with 1 January 2022 and 180 lei as of 1 January 2023.

Also, as for people with pronounced disabilities, the size of the compensation for one quarter in the Chisinau city will be 180 lei. As for the people with severe disabilities up to 18 years of age, the size of the compensation for one quarter is 360 lei, which includes also compensations for the people who accompany them.

Additionally to the sizes of compensation established in the points 9-12 of the Regulation, the people with locomotor disabilities (including children with locomotor disabilities of up to 18 years of age) quarterly benefit from a supplement worth 200 lei.

„Decision-makers propose the gradual entrance into force of the provisions of the draft decision as of 1 January 2021, 1 January 2022 and 1 January 2023, on grounds that the compensation for transport services will gradually increase, with the quarterly payment during the year. Respectively, in order not to create problems for beneficiaries and the social assistance territorial structures, in the process of its establishment and payment, it is necessary that the increase is made in the beginning of the year,’’ the decision’s informative note reads.
